Aperture Cinema, the city's arthouse theater, has raised enough money to stay open in 2025, its new executive director announced in a mass email on Thursday.
Aperture's leadership said in September that it needed to raise $100,000 by the end of the year to continue operating into 2025, an announcement it made at the same time that founding director Lawren Desai said she was voluntarily stepping down.
"We are so pleased to report that this community stepped up, and we are ready to reassure you that a/perture plans to remain open to our community in 2025," Leigh Dyer said in the email.

Dyer was named the new executive director earlier this month. She comes to the position from the GreenHill Center for NC Art in Greensboro.
The email did not say how much money has been raised, but a fundraising tracker in the lobby of the cinema indicated two weeks ago that $90,000 had been pledged.
The campaign will continue until the end of the month, Dyer wrote.
"This will strengthen our business case for future support and ensure our continued programming," she wrote.
A haven for lovers of indie film, Aperture, 311 W. Fourth St., will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Jan. 8. The results of the fundraising campaign will be announced on that date.
