Austin-based drink company roasts lackluster dating scene

The brand has made several viral TikToks while subtly marketing the drinks.

Central Texas' lackluster dating scene has made its way to social media...again. The topic has constantly come up for singles in or around Austin and San Antonio, but this time a familiar conversation from guys in one city is going viral.

Can-Tini, an Austin-based canned espresso martini company, recently made a TikTok about detailing some common POV's when dating in Austin. The drink brand's employees dished on what it's like going out with a tech bro in the city for the brand's latest marketing campaign that thousands of singles in Austin are relating to.

Can-Tini's TikTok account consists of several viral videos with over a million views from its creative employees making relatable content "for the girlies" while subtly marketing the brand with their espresso martinis in-hand. One of their recent videos, which currently has over 479,000 views, starts with the brand's employees pretending to be tech bros answering commonly-asked questions on a first date and repeating the same thing over again.

"So, what do you do for work?" a Can-Tini employee asked, while you can hear a group reply in unison saying, "Right now I'm in tech sales, but me and my boys just started a podcast. It'll take off any day now."

"What do you do on the weekends," a Can-Tini rep said as the group responds, "Run club, ice bath, Barton Springs, Latchkey (referring to the city's latest trendy bar).

Another funny common dating line was when a Can-Tini employee complimented another portrayed tech bro saying, "I love your shirt where is it from?" and the tech bro responds, "It's one of a kind. I thrifted it at Buffalo Exchange. Ever heard of it?"

Would-be Austin daters took to the comment section to sound off and wholeheartedly agreed with the state of dating in the Capital City.

"As a local this was painful," said user karinmurphy480.

User danra chimed in with, "don't forget the rock climbing."

While Autumn said what we're all thinking, "Grew up in Austin and moving back soon and I'm scared." Girl, same.
