Warriors' Stephen Curry praises Dennis Schroder's debut

On Saturday, Dec. 21, Dennis Schroder made his debut for the Golden State Warriors. The veteran guard was part of Steve Kerr's starting five, logging 27 minutes of playing time and scoring 9 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. While it wasn't Schroder's best performance, having him on the court was another step forward for the franchise.

When speaking to the media after the game, Curry detailed his hopes for what Schroder can bring to the team. He noted how the former Brooklyn Nets guard can ease some of the team's struggles with the second unit, specifically noting his scoring and playmaking ability.

Schroder is a proven NBA scorer. He can take over games and often looks unstoppable in the pick-and-roll. As the Warriors begin to adjust to his game and Schroder tweaks his approach, the partnership could become valuable for Kerr's team.

Golden State's aim remains the same: contend for a championship and maximize the twilight years of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green's careers. Schroder can help in that respect, especially during clutch time. While his first performance didn't impact the box score in a memorable way, his presence on the court was clearly felt. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how he approaches the team's system and whether the Warriors can meet him somewhere in the middle.
