YOUNGSTOWN -- Jennie R. Columbo, 98, a longtime resident of the West Side, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, Sept. 20, 2024, in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side.
Jennie was born July 10, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Luciano and Maria DeLucia Ialungo, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a proud graduate of The Rayen School, Class of 1945. After graduation, Jennie briefly worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer before embracing her greatest role -- dedicating her life to caring for her family.
Jennie was a member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church and still practicing her Catholic faith. She proudly served as a member of the Columbian Federation Ladies Auxiliary Lodge 55 for an incredible 62 years.
Jennie was known for her warm heart, her love of baking and the joy she found in spending time with her family.
Jennie leaves to forever cherish her memory, her two sons, Jeffrey R. (Janice) Columbo of Austintown and Randall N. (Patricia) Columbo of Poland; two grandsons, Nicholas Columbo (fiancee Jordan Balogh) of Poland and Geno Columbo (Sammie Marapese) of Struthers; and many extended family members who will cherish her memory forever.
Her husband of 55 years, Nicholas A. Columbo, whom she married July 23, 1949, died April 10, 2005.
Two sisters, Pascarella "Pat" DeLorenzo and Theresa Marinelli, also preceded Jennie in death.
Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 6 p.m.
Private interment will take place Thursday in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Jennie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
Jennie's family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Jennie's caregivers, Rita Diana and Karen Clark, for the love and tenderness shown to Jennie during her illness.
