The Kansas City Chiefs stayed undefeated on Sunday in a tightly-contested primetime win against the Atlanta Falcons.
Now, with viewership numbers coming in for the matchup, it seems as though the Chiefs continue to set the standard for the rest of the league both on the field and in viewership.
According to NBC, the "Sunday Night Football" matchup was fourth-most simul-streamed NBC NFL regular-season game ever. The game also broke the record to become the most-watched Week 3 "Sunday Night Football" game ever.
The broadcast reportedly peaked just before halftime at 27.5 million viewers.
Reaching a milestone like this is not new to Kansas City, as their Week 1 win against the Baltimore Ravens was reportedly the most-watched NFL Kickoff game ever. Their Week 2 win against the Cincinnati Bengals was also the most-watched September game this century on CBS.
If the Chiefs continue to play at the high level they have been, they'll likely only continue to break new viewership records. The big-play capabilities of superstar Patrick Mahomes and his offense, as well as the intrigue of the team pursuing their third-straight Super Bowl has clearly piqued many fans' interests.
The inclusion of Kelce's girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, on broadcasts has also likely led to a massive viewership increase for Kansas City's games. Although she did not attend the matchup in Atlanta.
