The Seattle Seahawks are entering the 2025 NFL Draft desperately needing to upgrade their offensive line. The majority of attention is expected to be spent on the interior, where multiple improvements are required at guard and center. Alternatively, the right tackle position finds itself in an interesting spot.

The oft-injured Abe Lucas is scheduled to enter a contract year in 2025. He's an above-average starter when healthy, but has been sidelined far too often throughout 2023 and 2024. If Lucas continues struggling with health, John Schneider and Mike Macdonald must find another blocker on the right side.

The Draft Network recently released its latest mock draft. Writer Daniel Harms has the Seahawks drafting Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons with the No. 18 overall selection.

"Geno Smith and the run game have had to overcome the poor play of the offensive line for too long in Seattle," Harms wrote. "Josh Simmons' injury has pushed him down the board a bit, but he could end up being the best tackle from this class with the prototypical size, strength, and athletic ability to help in the run and the pass. Just put your best five on the field, Mike Macdonald."

Drafting Simmons would be an interesting decision. He's a potential top 15 selection on pure talent alone, but is currently recovering from a season-ending knee injury. Furthermore, Simmons was a left tackle at Ohio State. Charles Cross has developed into a franchise player for the Seahawks at that position. This decision would come with a position change, either inside, or to right tackle for the Buckeyes standout blocker.
