A cold weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 9:02 p.m. and is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory is for La Crosse, Monroe, Juneau, Adams, Vernon, Crawford, Richland and Grant counties.
The NWS said, "Very cold wind chills as low as 35 below" are possible.
Some area school districts decided to close schools Tuesday, Feb. 18.
G-E-T was one of them. There will be no school for Early Childhood through fifth grade. Middle and high school students will learn virtually. Holmen School District also cancelled classes but held out hope for after-school activities. "Decisions on evening practices/competitions will be communicated to coaches before NOON tomorrow," according to the school district's website. Tomah, Westby and Viroqua school districts announced two-hour delays as of 9 p.m. Monday night.
