New hires at Ochsner, Baton Rouge General

Baton Rouge

Heather Cope has been named as chief of staff for the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children.

Cope has nearly 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and government sectors. She is the founder and principal of Blue Otter Consulting, where she worked with clients across the country on various education-related projects, focusing on advocacy, policy, research and strategy.

She earned a bachelor's in political science and communications from the University of Washington and a master's in teaching, specializing in adolescent social studies, from Pace University.

Dr. Amber Robins has joined the staff of Baton Rouge General.

Robins, a family medicine doctor, will treat patients at the Family Health Center clinic, 3401 North Blvd., and through BRG Care on the Go, which will bring primary and urgent care services to Mid City and north Baton Rouge through a new mobile health unit. BRG Care on the Go will start at the end of the month.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she also completed a residency.

Dr. Mark Tyson Garon, an orthopedic hand surgeon, has joined Ochsner Medical Complex -- The Grove.

Garon specializes in treating arthritis, cysts, tumors, ligament injuries, overuse conditions, fractures, trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome.

He earned a medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Garon completed a surgical residency at LSU Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at The Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis.

New Orleans

Mia Miller has been named director of communications and marketing at The Historic New Orleans Collection.

She previously served as the director of marketing and communications for the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Dr. Tanya Busenlener and Dr. Amy Glick, two longstanding pediatricians, are joining Children's Hospital New Orleans.

They will join the Lakeside Pediatrics clinic, 4845 Veterans Blvd., in November.

Busenlener is a graduate of LSU School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She has practiced pediatrics since 1997.

Glick is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her pediatric training at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. She has practiced since 2000.
