MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) -- Leave it to the youngsters. With their season on the line, the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to beat the New York Mets 5-3 and even their wildcard playoff series at a game apiece on Wednesday night at American Family Field.
Trailing 3-2 in the 8th inning, the Brewers got a game tying home run from Jackon Chourio and a two run shot from Garrett Mitchell to take the lead. It was Chourio's second homer of the game after a solo shot in the first inning. Mitchell had come into the game as a pinch-runner in the 6th and it was his first at-bat of the game.
Blake Perkins had the other Brewers RBI with a sac-fly in the 5th.
Frankie Montas started but only lasted 3 2/3 innings giving up one earned run. Fielding woes led to the Mets other two runs.
A day after struggling, the bullpen was stellar in this one. Trevor Megill, Joel Payamps, Jared Koenig, Joe Ross and Devin Williams combined for 5 1/3 scoreless innings.
The two teams face off in an elimination game tonight in Milwaukee . Tobias Meyers gets the start for the Brewers. Pre game show at 5:30 on WSAU.
