Is Jerod Mayo worried about the Kraft's reaction after Arizona loss?

Robert and Jonathan Kraft couldn't hide their displeasure even in the privacy of the box they were sitting in at State Farm Stadium Sunday during the Patriots loss to the Cardinals Sunday.

TV cameras from the CBS broadcast caught the reactions of the Patriots owner and team president after a set of failed running plays in the second quarter. The Krafts didn't appear happy about the play-calling.

During Jerod Mayo's Zoom call with the media, and weekly appearance on WEEI's The Greg Hill show on Monday, he was asked about the Krafts, and if they had voiced any concerns to him about Alex Van Pelt and the play calling, or anything else.

"I'm not going to get into what they said. I didn't even see the clip," Mayo said on WEEI. "I heard about it this morning. But look, they own the football team. They're fans of the team. And they've supported us 100 percent on the football side of not really getting involved in that stuff, which has been good."

During an interview with Tom E. Curran on his Patriots Talk Podcast on NBC Sports Boston last week, Mayo indicated that he speaks with the Krafts after every game.

"We always debrief the games," Mayo said on the podcast. "They're very -- they just want to know at least my thought process. And they absolutely, just like the fans, sometimes don't agree with the way that the game is going. Obviously when you lose games, the questions are plentiful (and) very pointed.

"Again, though, as the head coach, I have to be able to answer those questions. And my job is not only to protect the coaches, but also protect the players. And that's why I try to take 100 percent accountability."

On Monday, Mayo didn't seem too concerned about what lip readers believed Jonathan Kraft said about the play-calling being terrible or if they had any issues.

"They've been fully supportive of us as a team," Mayo said. "They're huge fans of the team ... Whatever they said, they said."
