Meta Quest sale: top VR headset game deals for new owners

Meta Quest headsets are one of the big presents for Christmas 2024. And Meta has helpfully just started a sale that brings some all-time low prices for some of the platform's best games and experiences.

We've assessed the deals to select 10 of the best buys.

Diehard Meta Quest fans may sigh at some of the staple picks we've chosen, but we're keen to help VR newcomers kit themselves out with great stuff to play over the holidays.

Here are our top 10 Meta Quest sale recommendations.

It's some of the best multiplayer fun you can have anywhere.

Eight 18-hole courses are included, and there are loads of DLC ones to download if you get hooked.

This sci-fi adventure is proof of how immersive VR can be. You explore a moon base and solve a mystery, with a focus on exploration, world detail and puzzles.

The original Red Matter is also on sale (£9.99) and also worth buying. But if you have the budget for only one, Red Matter 2 is the most impressive experience.

This is a mixed-reality game where you make Lego constructions in VR to solve puzzles in intricate game worlds.

Each level is a giant diorama (a three-dimensional model or replica of a scene often miniature in scale), and they look fantastic through a Quest headset.

There is a big discount on this one too. It's comfortable VR, which is suitable for newcomers.

A sequel to A Fisherman's Tale (just £3.99 in the sale), this story-led puzzle game involves using your character's detachable limbs to progress.

These games can be finished in three to four hours, a manageable task for the Christmas holidays.

Don't let the kids near this one. Saints & Sinners is a physics-based action title in which you knife zombies in the brain (alongside using guns, bows and more).

It's not all about violence, though, as there are roleplaying elements and a story behind the mayhem.

If you love it, a "Chapter 2" game is available for £17.99 in the sale.

This is one of the most impressive VR games out there.

2023's Assassin's Creed Nexus VR feels like one of the earlier Assassin's' Creed console games mapped onto virtual reality.

And it's not much shorter than those earlier games either, with play time of around 12-15 hours.

Despite being a parkour assassination game, Meta still rates this a "comfortable" VR experience rather than a super-intense one -- in-game settings help you reduce the risk of VR nausea.

Prepare for chaos. The Last Clockwinder involves making robot clones of yourself to solve puzzles.

You then get them to chuck fruit to each other and into a machine. You're effectively making a production line with robot helpers, acting out the motion required for each robot.

This one makes great use of VR control. Depending on how easily you glide through the puzzles, it may take six to eight hours.

The original The 7th Guest was a full-motion video (FMV) puzzle game from 1993.

This 2023 remake makes its basic concept feel entirely novel -- and at home in VR.

You explore a mansion, solving puzzles in each room to unlock more of the house and the story.

It may look like a horror game, but there are no jump scares to worry about here, just a mildly spooky atmosphere.

This isn't a new VR game, having come out in 2019, but it has been enhanced for Quest 3/3S and is a no-brainer for under a quid.

It's a roughly six-hour adventure in which you, the last human on the planet, must discover what happened to the world.

You use a bow and arrow to take out aggressive robots, while the rest of the gameplay is a mix of exploration and puzzling.
