Slipknot, Tool, Korn, Slayer and Pantera tribute bands will play just after Christmas at the Hard Rock Casino in Gary.

The five metal bands will perform "A Not-So-Silent Night" on Dec. 28 at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana at 5400 West 29th Ave. in Gary. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The headliner is a tribute to Slipknot, the horror-themed metal band from Iowa that wears elaborate costumes.

"The Subliminal Verses, a tribute to Slipknot, is the big headliner of the evening. There is no denying that Chicagoland has become somewhat of a breeding ground for tribute bands in a way one might have never imagined," Hard Rock Casino said in a news release. "Throughout this ongoing cesspool of onstage mockery, sat a project in a dark attic, tightly kept in a box and tucked away in a corner where nobody could find it. As one can imagine, some things don't stay hidden forever ... The contents of that box would eventually make its way out of that attic and The Subliminal Verses were given the opportunity to bring one of the most iconic metal bands of our time to life for the people of the Midwest. Their dedicated representation of the masked nonet is blended perfectly with an interactive live show that will leave the audience with a feeling of authenticity that almost unmatched. Through raw onstage aggression, the band prides themselves on replicating the glory days of Slipknot."

The lineup also includes the Tool tribute band Lateralus and the Slayer tribute band Reign in Blood from Chicago, which aspires to be the strongest Slayer tribute act in Chicagoland since Hell Awaits. The Pantera tribute band Sandblasted Skin, formerly known as Far Beyond Vulgar, has paid tribute for a decade to the Texas-based groove metal band known for albums like "Cowboys from Hell," "A Vulgar Display of Power" and "Far Beyond Driven."

Rounding out the lineup will be a tribute to the Bakersfield, California-based nu metal band Korn that used to get Q101 airplay with songs like "Shoots and Ladders."

"Over the past 10 years, Freak on A Leash have worked hard at creating a name for themselves in the Chicagoland tribute scene while replicating the golden days of Korn," Hard Rock Casino said in its news release. "The band is well-known for their high energy performances and unique ability to create a party atmosphere that you typically would not encounter with a heavier band. What was intended to be a one-time performance, evolved into a decade of intense live shows, paving the way for the band to achieve some pretty impressive milestones along the way."

Tickets start at $10 for the 21+ show.
