Hayden to host two events to bring community together, celebrate arrival of fall

Fall is in the air in Hayden as two events celebrating the season are set to take center stage this month.

The first will take place from 3:30-6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the back patio at the Haven Community Center. The family-friendly event will feature music from Apple Pie and A Guy, beer from the Yampa Valley Brewing Company, food from the American Legion and a silent auction with a number of items up for grabs. There will also be pumpkin painting and other fall activities.

Tickets for the event are $12 for an individual who chooses the non-alcoholic beverage, $15 for adults who would like a beer, $25 for a couple or $40 for a family. All tickets include a meal and access to all of the activities.

"It's a fundraiser for the Haven, which is our nonprofit assisted living in Hayden," said Miranda Barrett, director of the Haven Assisted Living Center. "All the proceeds go to the Haven, and local businesses donate silent auction items. The silent auction can range from Broncos tickets to baked goods and anything that local businesses or community members are willing to do donate."

Barrett said money raised from the event will go into a general fund that supports activities for the residents and increases their quality of life.

All proceeds benefit The Haven, a nonprofit assisted living community for adults 55 and older.

The Hayden Center is also inviting people to come out from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 12 to Dry Creek Park at 513 S. Poplar St. for Harvest Fest with a chance to celebrate the changing seasons.

"We will have some live music. We're going to have a food truck, and we will have a few different games for the kids to play," said Rhonda Sweetser, recreation director. "There will be pumpkins to paint, pumpkins to buy (and) a free caramel apple bar with hot cider and hot coffee. Then there'll be a photo booth, so you can take your own photos. ... It'll be this cute little decorated area where you can take pictures."

Sweetser also said the long-running, family-friendly event will include arts and arts crafts, games, a maze and a food truck. The Hayden chapter of FFA will also bring animals to the celebration.

"This is just a celebration of fall for the Hayden community to come together ... to enjoy each other and have a great time at our fantastic town park," Sweetser said.
