Two planet alignments are coming up this winter. Here's when to look for them.

And yes, there is a difference between the two celestial sights.

"Planetary alignment is an astronomical term used to describe the event when several planets gather closely on one side of the sun at the same time," Star Walk stated on its website. "Planetary parade is a colloquial term that means, in the broadest sense, that several planets are present in the sky in one night."

When can you see the astral action? Here's what to know.

A full alignment of the planets can be seen on Jan. 21, 2025 when Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Venus and Saturn align, according to Star Walk.

Star Walk also noted, "Four of these planets (Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn) will be easily visible to the naked eye. You'll need a telescope or high-powered binoculars to see Neptune and Uranus."

The 'planet parade' will happen on Feb. 28, 2025. There will be one additional planet appearing, as Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars will all be visible at the same time.

According to Star Walk, there are four types of planetary alignments: "Mini planetary alignment -- three planets; small planetary alignment -- four planets; large planetary alignment -- five or six planets; and great (full) planetary alignments -- all solar system planets (plus Pluto sometimes)."
