Ritzy NYC Hotels Now Offering 'Self-Love Pods' In Honor Of Sexual Awareness Month

In honor of Sexual Health Awareness Month, the chic Walker Hotels Tribeca in New York is providing recently single women with a space to unwind and enjoy quality time with themselves.

Throughout September, Walker Hotels Tribeca will offer their inviting Self-Love Pods for booking, allowing guests to enjoy a solo retreat focused on nurturing self-love and care. According to the New York Post, the unique opportunity also encourages guests to "re-explore their own sexuality."

The hotel's spicy package features a range of wellness and self-care items, including adaptogen drinks from Recess, a journal by Grow Into, and a personal three-speed vibrator from the modern intimacy brand Maude. It also includes a complimentary visit to Othership Spa for either a free-flow session or a guided class. Additionally, guests will enjoy an in-room meditation experience centered on self-love, curated by Cacti Wellness.

Staying in the Self-Love Pods at Walker Hotels Tribeca comes with a hefty price tag of $350 per night. Despite the cost, the demand remains high, with 10 guests already booking the package within its first week, according to the Post.

Sexual Health Awareness Month is dedicated to promoting understanding and education about sexual health. Observed annually in September, the month focuses on increasing awareness about various aspects of sexual health, including sexual wellness, reproductive health, safe practices, and access to care. It aims to break down stigmas, provide accurate information, and encourage open discussions about sexual health issues. Organizations, health professionals, and advocacy groups use this time to educate the public, support sexual health initiatives, and highlight the importance of maintaining sexual well-being as part of overall health.

Given that sexual health education often emphasizes monogamous relationships, Walker Hotels sought to expand the dialogue. Their goal is to address sexual health for individuals who are single, focusing on fostering a deeper sense of self-love and confidence. The steamy deals comes at a good time as single-hood in the U.S. appears to be on the rise.

According to a 2021 Pew Research report, as American relationships, living arrangements, and family dynamics evolve, an increasing number of adults are living without a romantic partner. The analysis of census data by the Pew Research Center revealed that in 2019, approximately 38% of adults ages 25 to 54 were unpartnered, meaning they were neither married nor cohabiting with a partner. The figure has risen significantly from 29% in 1990. Notably, men are now more likely to be unpartnered than women, a reversal of the trend observed 30 years ago.

A 2023 survey from the American Enterprise Institute's Survey Center on American Life shed light on the increasing trend of singlehood among American adults, revealing that many choose to remain single. The survey found that roughly 41% of single individuals were not currently dating and have no intention of doing so. Additionally, 42% of respondents said they were weren't dating but were open to the possibility.

According to the data, the reasons for remaining single vary by age; older adults often cite different motivations than their younger counterparts. However, a common theme is that the choice to stay single is rarely due to feelings of undesirability. Instead, many people prefer their independence, struggle to find partners who meet their standards, or are trying to prioritize other aspects of their lives.
