Belleville's Lori Borthwick is president of the Bay of Quinte Green Party of Ontario Constituency Association. She was also the party candidate in Thursday's byelection.

She placed fourth, taking three per cent of the vote. The victor, Progressive Conservative newcomer Tyler Allsopp, brought in about 38 per cent. Liberal Sean Kelly was second with 33 per cent, while the NDP's Amanda Robertson won 23 per cent.

"I worry a little bit how much representation we'd be receiving when it was hard to find the candidate, even during the election period. That doesn't fill me with hope," Borthwick said of Allsopp's campaign.

Allsopp did not attend a televised debate and, in an unprecedented move, his Thursday-night victory celebration - normally an open, public event - was closed to media - at least initially.
