The Buffalo Bills acquired five-time Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns last week, and it didn't take long for him to get involved in the passing game. He caught four passes for 66 yards, including his first touchdown as a member of the Bills. His performance helped get Buffalo to 5-2 as the Bills chase the No. 1 seed in the AFC. And while Cooper is a tremendous addition, they shouldn't stop adding pieces - go get Cooper Kupp.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Rams are taking calls to discuss potential trades for the star receiver, and the Bills should be doing all they can to land the Super Bowl MVP.
Look at the landscape of the AFC. The Houston Texans have three legitimate receivers that can beat you on any given day. The Baltimore Ravens and their run game have already given the Bills trouble. And the constant thorn in the Bills' side, the Kansas City Chiefs, are 6-0. Buffalo constantly comes up short in January. And while it's rarely the fault of their defense, they need to get on the offensive and embrace the fact that they'll have to outscore teams rather than hold them to few points. A receiving corps of Cooper, Kupp, Khalil Shakir, and Keon Coleman, as well as Dalton Kincaid at tight end and James Cook in the backfield would be incredibly difficult for any team to deal with.
The Bills can't be complacent. This is as bad as Patrick Mahomes has ever looked as a pro (six touchdowns, eight interceptions). The Chiefs may be undefeated, but not because of their quarterback. And that's not to say Mahomes all of a sudden isn't dangerous - of course he is. The point being that if there was ever a year to beat the Chiefs, this would be the year. The lack of wide receivers for Mahomes to distribute to and getting Matt Milano back at the tail end of the season will play into the hands of Buffalo, but the Chiefs' defense is as good as any in the NFL - you need to gear up to beat them. Hell, Josh Allen almost accomplished it in January while throwing to Trent Sherfield, who currently has three catches on the year for the Vikings, a still-emerging Shakir, and Stefon Diggs, who dropped a perfect moon ball that would have set Buffalo up for a touchdown much earlier in the fourth quarter.
The Bills need to take a page out of the Rams' playbook and acquire proven pieces in order to get over the hump and get to the Super Bowl. Go all in and get Kupp. Because if you can't beat the Chiefs this season, then when will it ever happen?
