The Bigme B1051C is an Android 14 tablet with a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a microSD card with support for up to 1TB of removable storage.
But unlike most Android tablets, the B1051C has an E Ink Color display, which means it's primarily designed for reading and writing rather than high-motion activities like playing games or watching videos. The Bigme B1051C is up for pre-order for $639 and should begin shipping in mid-November.
The tablet comes with an EMR pen for writing and drawing on the screen and has a front light with support for 36 levels of color temperature adjustments.
Unlike some E Ink tablets, it has a camera and speaker as well as an array of four microphones. Bigme says the "HD camera" is there to help you scan documents that you can edit annotate, or save. The microphones can be used to record meetings or other audio, and the tablet has a voice-to-text feature that should be able to transcribe spoken words in 37 different languages.
On paper, the tablet looks a lot like the Bigme InkNote X Color that launched earlier this year, and which currently sells for $599 and up. But the new model has a slightly different physical design, a newer version of Android, and... a smaller battery (the B1051C has a 3700 mAh battery, while the InkNote X Color has a 4,000 mAh battery.
The Bigme B1051C has an aluminum alloy body that measures 184.4 x 246.5 x 5.5mm and the tablet weighs 435 grams. Its E Ink Kaleido display has a resolution of 1860 x 2480 pixels (300 ppi) for black and white content or 930 x 1240 (150 ppi) for color content. The color resolution is lower because E Ink's Kaleido displays place a color filter on top of a greyscale display in order to provide support for up to 4096 colors.
The device's Dimensity 900 processor is an octa-core chip with two ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores that support frequencies up to 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 chips that top out at 2 GHz. The tablet also supports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and features a fingerprint sensor.
