Barcelona set for small economic boost as Celta consider permanent move for former midfielder

Ilaix Moriba has been a welcome addition to Celta Vigo this season. Joining on loan from RB Leipzig in the summer, the midfielder has built a solid moat for himself.

Under the leadership of Claudio Giraldez, Moriba has emerged as a key component in the Celta midfield, racking up 15 competitive appearances.

His performances, in fact, have led Celta Vigo to consider activating a purchase clause that is embedded into the midfielder's loan contract.

As reported by Diario SPORT, Ilaix Moriba's potential transfer away from RB Leipzig could be beneficial for FC Barcelona.

That is because the Catalan outfit had retained a 10% sell-on fee clause when they sold the youngster to RB Leipzig in 2021.

Therefore, Barcelona could stand to gain financially should Celta Vigo exercise the option to sign Moriba on a permanent deal.

Unfortunately, the economic gain will be almost negligible as the value of the purchase option held by Celta Vigo stands at around €5-8 million.

Considering the minimum value, Barcelona will gain only €500,000 from the sale of Moriba.

However, under the club's current circumstances, every inflow is important and will help the club restore sanity to the balance sheet, especially ahead of the January transfer window.

In the meantime, Barcelona is actively working on a deal to sell VIP ticketing at Camp Nou, which could bring around €120 million inflow.

The revenue should go a long way in helping Barcelona register the two new signings - Dani Olmo and Pau Torres, going into January.
