After being out of coaching following his firing from Florida in 2021, Dan Mullen seemed quite content in his analyst role with ESPN.

His name was frequently mentioned when jobs opened in the ensuing seasons, but nothing ever seemed to come of it. That was until Barry Odom left UNLV for the Purdue opening earlier this month, and Mullen was tabbed to be the next head coach of what can only be considered one of the hottest Group of Five programs in the country.

While the program is coming off of two seasons that saw it post a combined record of 20-8, the Rebels are expected to lose quite a bit of talent. Something that will force Mullen to dip into the portal and bolster the roster. Heading into Saturday, he had already landed Utah running back Jaylon Glover, but he made sure to secure the signal caller who will be feeding him the rock as well Saturday evening.

As revealed in an announcement by On3's Hayes Fawcett, Mullen and UNLV landed Virginia Cavaliers transfer Anthony Colandrea.

The former three-star out of Florida started 11 games for Virginia in 2024, and while he had his bright moments, he also had some not-so-great ones as well. He finished the year having thrown for 2,125 yards with 13 touchdowns to 11 picks, while completing 61.9% of his passes.

According to PFF, he graded out as the No. 215 quarterback in the country, posting a 66.3 overall grade.

On3's transfer portal industry ranking had him as the No. 30 quarterback and the No. 315 player overall in the transfer portal. Prior to landing at UNLV, Colandrea took trips to Syracuse and Ole Miss.

He will look to flourish under Mullen, who is known for getting the most out of his quarterbacks and for having an electric offense.
