PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Timbers' full training session on Tuesday was open to the media at the Timbers Training Center, where player interviews also took place ahead of Wednesday's Green is Gold scrimmage.
Retired Timber Jack Jewsbury along with Green Team Captain Diego Chara and Gold Team Captain Eric Miller spoke to the press in light of the Green is Gold Charity Match that is set to take place Wednesday, June 26.
The Timbers announced that Jewsbury is one of the retired Timbers who will be returning to play in Wednesday's charity match. Returning to Providence Park alongside Jewsbury will be Diego Valeri, the most decorated player in club history.
The Green is Gold Charity Match will be a mixed-teams scrimmage between the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC. The last time the Timbers and Thorns came together for a mixed-teams charity match was back in 2022 where they raised over $600,00 for UNICEF's relief efforts in Ukraine.

This year the two teams will be coming together in honor of the Timbers' Green is Gold Club. The Timbers' Green is Gold platform aims to promote nature conservation and sustainability, and is one of many activations and season-long programs that will be taking place.
Kickoff for Wednesday's match is set to take place at 7 p.m. PST at Providence Park. Tickets and admission to the match are free, fans can reserve their tickets via SeatGeek. Upon reserving tickets to Wednesday's scrimmage fans are encouraged to donate via SeatGeek to the benefitted organizations, the Nature Conservancy and Keep Oregon Green. Aside from hosting the Green is Gold Match the Timbers have implemented other initiatives in support of environmental conversation both within Providence Park and the community.
The Timbers are promoting biking to matches throughout the season with free bike parking on all match days. Similarly, match day tickets are also proof of ride fare on all TriMet buses and MAX trains. Fans are encouraged to commute via the many TriMet lines that are close to the stadium. Tickets can be used up to three hours prior to the match and three hours after the conclusion of the match.
Other initiatives that are taking place within Providence Park consist of the Timbers reusable cup program, The Score a Goal, Plant a Tree Program and finally the advertisement of The Nature Conservancy on the club's jerseys.
