Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany has been full of praise for Pau Cubarsi ahead of Wednesday's Champions League tie between the two sides.
The 17-year-old is already a regular in the heart of the Barcelona backline and Kompany, who knows a thing or two about defending, says he could become one of the very best.
"He's one of the future defensive leaders in world football for sure. Not just playing for Barça, but against the level of opposition at his age is very special and very rare," he told reporters.
"I was lucky to be able to start my career very young, but not at this level. Not only because he is playing for Barça, but because he is in a team with a lot of quality. If he doesn't have injuries, he will be a great player."
Kompany also spoke about Lamine Yamal and his admiration that Barca have so many top talents coming out of their academy.
"I don't know, honestly, it's exceptional for Barcelona that, after such a short time since the departure of Messi, who for many years was a key figure in world football, they already have another player who can replace him. It's unique. All my respect for La Masia, who has always been able to trust in that type of player and give them a chance," he added.
"It's not just about stopping particular opponents, but about winning the game against Barça. Not just stopping one player, but the whole team, and that's what we're focusing on. But Lamine Yamal is impressive."
Both Cubarsi and Yamal are expected to start against Bayern as new boss Hansi Flick goes up against his former club in Europe's premier club competition.
