Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is set to be arranged Wednesday in connection with a car accident that left one person dead.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist who is currently touring with Pearl Jam will be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, according to Deadline.
He will set his plea on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. PT at the Alhambra, California Courthouse.
The charge stems from a car accident March 18, in which Klinghoffer struck 47-year-old pedestrian Israel Sanchez with his SUV in Alhambra, California. Sanchez was in a crosswalk and hit from behind. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sanchez's family then filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Klinghoffer in July. The suit alleges that Klinghoffer was on his phone while driving an SUV and making a left turn while Sanchez was walking on the pedestrian walkway.
Klinghoffer's lawyer then said in a statement, "This was a tragic accident. After which, Josh immediately pulled over, stopped the vehicle, called 911, and waited until police and the ambulance arrived. He is fully cooperating with the traffic investigation."
