She has made it her mission to help people in balancing both fitness and nutrition as part of their health journey.

"I kind of help people find the balance and even those out, so they can be their best," she said.

Digsby, who is an author of many health and wellness books, shared her knowledge of how people can incorporate healthy eating habits with exercise during a talk that was held at Fleet Feet North Augusta recently.

During the talk, Digsby discussed several ways people can include healthy food in their lives with simple kitchen tools that would make cutting food easier, demonstrating healthy food portions on a plate and how people can prepare their food in glass containers.

"Mostly here we are going to be focused on the healthy kitchen today," she said. "A lot of people here are good at running and getting the activity in, but may or may not be good at the kitchen side of the equation."

Digsby talked about her three principles in being successful: protein, prioritize and progress. She also discussed how people can remove barriers with fresh food such as time, smells, taste, costs and preparation by purchasing special tools.

Demonstrating with a plate, Digsby said one section is fruits and veggies, non-starchy vegetables like broccoli, a quarter plate of grains, a quarter plate of lean protein and a thumb tip of fat.

Digsby also had signed copies of her new book "Nutrition Made Easy: Simple Solutions to Feel Your Best Both Inside & Out." Digsby is also an author of a cookbook called "Best Body Cookbook & Menu Plan: You're 52 days away from Your Best Body."

The first book she published is "Countdown to Your Best Body: Success Journal."

Digsby has been a dietitian for over 20 years and her journey began when she was studying dietetics at the University of Georgia. She also began teaching group exercises as a fitness pro at that time.

Digsby said each of her books have a nutrition element and the first book was an 8-week lifestyle change program in a journal format. She let readers write down their progress as they go along throughout the book.

"My clients would always say I do exactly what you say, but can you just deal with me a little bit at a time because it's pretty overwhelming," she said. "So I broke it into one day at a time over about eight weeks."

She said two years after writing that book, there was a demand for recipes and she wrote a cookbook with a North Augusta author. She would describe it as a menu plan and it has six weeks of dinners, breakfasts and lunches.

Digsby said her new book is mostly a Q&A in response to all the questions she has gotten about fitness and nutrition over the years.

"I knew I liked to write, teach and present, but I never knew I would write a book on nutrition," she said. "I might as well when you have all these years of info in your head you want to share with people."

"We definitely feels like it goes hand-in-hand with what our store is trying to promote with living a healthy and active lifestyle," Fleet Feet North Augusta general manager Sheren Jacobs said.

One local resident, Lisa Frost, said she came to see Digsby because she heard about her new book and wants to find other ways to be healthy.
