A $5-million reconstruction project completed between Brock and Queen streets on the major city road this year goes into phase two in the spring, said city engineering and operations general manager David Jackson.

"Continuing that from Queen Street to Front Street will be a significant project," he said, noting $3.3 million has been budgeted for the work that has yet to be tendered.

It's in part covered, he said, by $10.4 million Sarnia received in 2019 in Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund money to spend within 10 years.

The city also received a more recent Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund grant that has to be used by 2033, Jackson said.

The Wellington Street project is one of a handful of combined sewer separation projects the city has lined up for 2025, tackling about 700 metres of combined storm and sanitary sewers, Jackson said.
