Families Helping Families reaches goal of helping 4,000 families thanks to Michael J. Mungo Foundation

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - We are excited to share that through the generosity of the Midlands community, every family has been adopted for our Families Helping Families initiative.

Every year the initiative connects families with needed supplies, gifts, clothes, and other essentials during Christmas.

This year's goal was to help more than 4,000 families and to collect 500 bikes, according to Nell Killoy, Director of Family Supports at Palmetto Project.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who participated and gave to the cause in hopes of making this holiday special for Midlands families in need.

We also want to thank the Michael J. Mungo Foundation for a generous donation to adopt the remaining 75 families that helped us hit our goal.

Company founder, the late Michael J. Mungo, grew up without having a Christmas, so it's important to the company to make sure his legacy and passion for helping other's is honored.

Families are referred to the program through social service organizations and schools.

Anyone looking to help can call the Palmetto Project at (803) 779-4875 or head to 9810 Two Notch Road in Columbia.
