Let the Summerville Orchestra sweep you off your feet on Valentine's Day weekend with a concert dedicated to love and romance. "The Poet & the Muse," featuring Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Fantasy and a thrilling medley from "James Bond: Casino Royale," will make for a romantic date night. Adding to the mix will be a spotlight on the S.O. Concerto Competition winner, pianist Will Goss, along with the blazing sounds of the Charleston Jazz quartet Barrel Proof.
"It's one thing to have heard Romeo and Juliet Fantasy on TV and media, and it's another to experience it live," said music director Wojciech Milewski. "If you've never gotten a chance to experience the grandeur of this piece, bring your sweetheart out for Valentine's Day. Lions (A Dream) is a piece we have performed with the orchestra unlike any other. It is just beautifully different. I don't want anyone to miss the opportunity to hear this piece that is so rarely performed. It seamlessly combines elements that normally don't go together. And to top it off, we are always so proud to feature one of our own musicians as the winner of the yearly concerto competition. The extra bonus is we get to perform the U.S. premiere of a piano concerto, Memo Flora."
There are two opportunities to experience this concert at the Summers Corner Performing Arts Center: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, and 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.
Tickets for this performance are $25 for adults, $5 for students and $2 for children under 18.
In addition to single tickets, concertgoers can take advantage of a special offer to purchase a season pass at a discounted rate. This pass includes tickets to the remaining three concerts of the Summerville Orchestra's 21st season, allowing you to enjoy more spectacular performances throughout the year.
