LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Lawton City Council has approved a request for a completely different location for construction on the new Lawton Animal Welfare shelter and adoption center.
Originally, the new adoption center would've been added on to the existing shelter.
However, officials with the project said there were too many issues found with the current animal holding room to make renovations and stay within budget.
Now, the project will be built over the Old Lawton Fire Station 1701 SW Lee Blvd, giving more room and a "better bang for your buck".
