Elon Musk's X is raising the price of its premium subscription model.
According to a blog post, X Premium+ will now cost users $22 a month, up from the original $16 monthly subscription fee. The new price went into effect on Saturday.
Additionally, X Premium+ is now free of advertising as the company shifts away from compensating subscribers based on ad interactions. X also said Premium+ users have exclusive access to more content tools and the most "cutting edge Grok models."
Premium+ users will also have access to Radar, a new artificial intelligence-powered X feature that lets users track emerging trends.
The pricing plans for X's two other subscription models, Basic and Premium, remain unchanged at $3 and $8 a month, respectively.
Only new Premium+ subscribers must pay the updated fee, with current members paying the original rate until Jan. 20.
Saturday's update comes as X shifts away from reliance on advertising. Previously, X Premium accounts were able to generate revenue based on how many X users saw advertising next to their posts. As ad firms shy away from Mr. Musk's platform, X is providing users compensation for post interactions.
