Travis Hunter Sends Message To Richard Sherman With Pregame Shirt After Criticism

Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter found himself locked in a bizarre feud with former NFL star cornerback Richard Sherman earlier this week.

Sherman called out Hunter over both his fitness and his route running as a wide receiver, prompting Hunter to take a shot back at him.

It appears that the feud isn't quite over either, as Hunter sent a message to Sherman with his pregame attire against UCF on Saturday.

The shirt was a reference to Sherman's criticism that Hunter is "bland" as a wide receiver and needs to improve his route running.

"I think he goes as a corner just because of his size... He's not a special size, super dynamic route runner. He's a great athlete and he's so smooth... I'm sure if he focused on receiver, he could be elite, but as a corner, he just looks more natural," Sherman said of Hunter.

Hunter, unsurprisingly, wasn't happy with the comment.

"It hurt me because I look up to him," Hunter said. "He didn't mean for it to go out that way. I grew up watching him, I modeled my game around him. He apologized to me"

But apparently, Hunter wasn't quite ready to let the beef die.

Sherman also said he doubted Hunter's ability to play both as a cornerback and wide receiver in the NFL.

"We're not playing 50 snaps on offense and 55 snaps on defense [in the NFL]," he said. "These QBs are going to say, 'Hey, let's see how in shape you are by the end of the fourth quarter. We just saw you run three go routes, I'm about to bring our third receiver in to run you on three more go routes.'"

Sherman is probably right. It would be a massive ask for Hunter to play both ways in the NFL. But he sure seems deadset on giving it a try.
