Football: Games moved due to Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene is affecting high school football games around Northeast Georgia.

So far, here is what we know.

Hall County athletics director Stan Lewis released a statement on Wednesday afternoon. In that statement, school and all extracurricular activities in Hall County have been canceled on Thursday and Friday. Because of the school cancellation, the Pickens at North Hall has been moved to Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Flowery Branch will host East Forsyth on Saturday, with a noon kickoff. East Hall will travel to Monroe Area on Saturday morning. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Cherokee Bluff's region battle at Oconee County has been moved to Thursday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m.

"Due to the inclement weather expected as a result of Hurricane Helene and its latest projected path, the Hall County School District will conduct school from home both Thursday and Friday of this week," Lewis said in the statement. "Twelve-month employees for the district should report to work tomorrow at their designated sites unless contacted by their supervisors. All extracurricular events for both Thursday and Friday are canceled or postponed. As we work to reschedule extracurricular activities, updates will be provided.

However, as of Wednesday at 2:57 p.m., West Hall at Jefferson is still on Friday.

Gainesville moved its game at Johns Creek to Wednesday (Sept. 25) at 6 p.m. School officials made the call on Tuesday.
