Kendra Wilkinson Didn't Actually Quit Real Estate Despite Announcing Exit: 'Just a Really Bad Day' (Exclusive)

"I made a huge mistake," Wilkinson tells PEOPLE, adding that she's "back in" the real estate game

Kendra Wilkinson is setting the record straight on her real estate career.

After announcing back in May that she was stepping away from the industry, the Kendra Sells Hollywood star, 39, has exclusively told PEOPLE that she didn't actually quit and that an off day led to her hastily putting the news out there.

"I just had a really bad day," Wilkinson tells PEOPLE at the DirecTV Gets Real party hosted by DirecTV, People and Entertainment Weekly. "So I did announce that I'd be stepping away from real estate, but that was just a really bad day in my life and I should've never probably Instagrammed that I'm quitting, but I did on accident like an idiot so I made a huge mistake."

"But I'm back in it," she continues. "I have so many deals I'm working on right now."

The mom of two went on to tell PEOPLE at the event, which was hosted by Ariana Madix, that while she finds the job "so stressful," she "wants to do it again."

"I want to publicly hate real estate again but I can't, because I love it!" she says. "I love real estate. It's a challenge every single day."

Wilkinson announced in a May 21 Instagram post that she was leaving her job in real estate to focus on her mental health and her kids, Hank IV, 14, and Alijah, 10, whom she shares with her ex-husband, former NFL wide receiver Hank Baskett.

"My relationship with real estate has come to an end at this moment and I'm on to new projects," she wrote.

"I'm blessed and thankful for all the support and mentoring I was given. Real estate is hard and I might get back into it again down the line. For now, its a little stressful in my life so I'm focusing on myself and kids and getting my mental health good again so I have the strength to get back in it with a good head," she continued, adding, "Love you and thank you guys 😊."

MAX's Kendra Sells Hollywood premiered in November 2021 and aired for two seasons, with Wilkinson confirming to PEOPLE in January 2024 that the series had not been renewed for a third season.

The series followed the former Playboy model as she tried to balance her career with family life, all while navigating drama between her fellow agents at luxury real estate agency, Douglas Elliman.

The show was announced in July 2021, just over a year after Wilkinson revealed that she had passed her real estate exam on the "first try."

In January 2024, in an interview with PEOPLE, the reality TV star opened up about her mental health struggles. "I was hitting the end of my life, and I went into psychosis. I felt like I wasn't strong enough to live anymore," she said at the time.

Her candid comments came after she was hospitalized for a panic attack in Sept. 2023.

"I was in a state of panic. I didn't know what was going on in my head and my body or why I was crying. I had hit rock bottom," she added to PEOPLE of the scary incident.
