HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - The Holmes County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in the investigation of missing FedEx packages.

According to a release, the HCSO contacted FedEx to assist in identifying the driver assigned to deliver the missing packages.

During the interview, Lewis admitted to deputies that due to the late hour, he chose to discard the undelivered packages at several locations rather than return them to the FedEx warehouse.

As a result of the investigation, 44 packages have been recovered so far, officials confirmed. The recovered packages went to Bonifay Post Office, which ensured they were delivered to their rightful owners.

Lewis was taken into custody and charged with an Organized Scheme to Defraud Grand Theft, and Illegal Dumping.
