Two charged in 2023 homicide in Northeast Albuquerque, warrant out for 2nd suspect

Sep. 22 -- A Rio Arriba County woman and an Albuquerque man are accused of killing a man over money in Northeast Albuquerque over a year ago.

Jasmine Trujillo, 30, of Alcalde is charged with an open count of murder and aggravated burglary in the April 2023 death of Larry Norsworthy, 60.

Trujillo is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. It is unclear where and when she was arrested. Her attorney could not be reached for comment on Sunday.

A warrant is out for Jarrett Chacon, 26, of Albuquerque. He is also being charged with an open count of murder and aggravated burglary, according to court records.

Court records state that in July 2023 Trujillo pled guilty to attempting to receive or transfer a stolen vehicle after being arrested along with Chacon in a May incident. Police said they recognized the suspects in the MDC custody list from that arrest. She received a suspended sentence while Chacon's case was dismissed.

According to an online obit, Norsworthy was known "to tease everyone, especially his grandkids."

"'Crazy Grandpa' will be missed by everyone that knew him," the obit said.

According to a criminal complaint filed at Metropolitan Court, police were able to identify Trujillo and Chacon through surveillance while searching for them.

At 12:35 p.m. April 4, 2023, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a call of an unattended death in the 200 block of Charleston, near Central.

According to the complaint, when they arrived, a man told them he found his father -- later identified as Norsworthy -- dead on the bathroom floor. The Office of the Medical Investigators initially said it was an unattended death before later calling it a homicide due to blunt trauma to the chest.

The complaint states the victim's son told police he saw a man with a woman -- later identified as Trujillo and Chacon -- inside his dad's SUV. He told police after making eye contact with them, Trujillo and Chacon fled. The SUV was later found at an apartment on Monroe, near San Mateo, along with Norsworthy's stolen bank cards.

Police said, on April 2, Norsworthy told police Trujillo had stolen his SUV. The same day, police said, a person told them that Trujillo said because Norsworthy had changed the codes to his phone app, she and Chacon were going to go into the victim's apartment "and beat his bank codes out of him so they could steal his Social Security payment."

According to the complaint, on April 3, Norsworthy's neighbor told police he was woken up by "a loud crashing noise" coming from the victim's apartment. Police said he told them they heard Norsworthy say, "Get off me, damn, get off me, damn," before seeing two people -- including the suspect -- leave the apartment.

During a 2023 interview with Trujillo at MDC, police said she told them she did not kill Norsworthy and that it was Chacon who "must have done it and not told her about it."

APD spokesperson Rebecca Atkins said if people have tips on the case they can call Crime Stoppers at 505-843-STOP or go to p3tips.com/531.
