CHANDLER, Okla. -- An Oklahoma jury has found a Sioux City man guilty of killing a Sioux City native and helping burn the body.
At the conclusion of a four-day trial Thursday, Clyde Clayton, 44, was found guilty of first-degree murder for the June 2023 death of 52-year-old Brian Corey, who was living in Carney, Oklahoma. Clayton also was found guilty of unlawful removal of a dead body and desecration of a human corpse.
Clayton faces a sentence of life in prison without parole. Sentencing was scheduled for Dec. 3 in Lincoln County District Court.
Clayton and Janelle Brown were arrested in July 2023 and charged with shooting Corey, burning his body and dumping his bones in a ditch sometime between June 2 and July 7 in 2023.
Corey had lived in Sioux City until leaving and settling in Oklahoma, where he was living with Brown, who is originally from Sioux City. Their relationship had ended before his death.

Oklahoma authorities informed Corey's family in Sioux City in July 2023 that he had been killed.
Brown and Clayton, who according to court documents were involved in a sexual relationship, both claimed the other shot Corey.
After she was detained, Brown told authorities Clayton shot Corey. She then led a sheriff's deputy to a site near Corey's home, where the deputy found burnt bones and empty bags that had held ashes. More burnt bones and a metal knee implant similar to one Corey had were found in a burn pile at his home, court documents said.
Medical examiners were able to identify Corey's remains, which eventually were returned to his family in Sioux City, where he was buried in January.
Brown, 40, of Wellston, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Oct. 15 of first-degree murder, unlawful removal of a dead body and desecration of a human corpse. She faces a sentence of life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 10.
