Monday's NCAA ruling that grants an additional year of eligibility to former junior college transfers who exhausted their eligibility this school could work in Oregon State's favor.
The waiver only applies to athletes who used some of their college eligibility at a non-NCAA school - like junior college or NAIA - and run out of athletic eligibility following the 2024-25 school year.
Oregon State has several athletes who qualify in its marquee sports. That doesn't mean they'll participate in their sports during the 2025-26 school year; there must be mutual interest between the athlete and coach, and a desire to continue attending college from the athlete.
Oregon State football seniors from the 2024 roster who spent at least one year of their eligibility at a non-NCAA school are safeties Alton Julian and Tyrice Ivy Jr., punter Josh Green and outside linebacker Nikko Taylor.
Taylor, in fact, posted this to social media Monday following the ruling.
There are three basketball players who are potentially eligible. For the men, it's guard Damarco Minor. For the women, guards Catarina Ferreira and Tiara Bolden. All three spent a year at a junior college.
