Todd McShay Names 'Best Pure Passer' In College Football

While he no longer works for ESPN, Todd McShay remains on his grind as an NFL Draft analyst.

McShay is already well into his study of prospective 2025 draft hopefuls, including Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders is coming off a 341-yard, two-touchdown performance in an overtime win over Baylor, including a Hail Mary on the final play of regulation to force the extra session.

After breaking down the tape from that game, McShay came away impressed with Deion's youngest son.

"Just finished all 94 plays of Colorado Offense vs Baylor. Even excluding the Hail Mary, [Shedeur] was sensational," McShay said Thursday on X/Twitter. "His receivers just don't have to work for the ball the way a lot of other prospects make their guys work. Best pure passer (anticipation, placement, throwing guys open, etc.) in the '25 class!"

Through four games, Sanders has thrown for 1,340 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. Colorado is 3-1 heading into Saturday's Big 12 matchup with UCF.

ESPN's Desmond Howard praised Sanders this week, pointing out the impact he has on Colorado's "tremendous leadership."

"I think Shedeur Sanders is one of the greatest players right now in college football, not just quarterbacks, just players. Because of his leadership style, the way he approaches the game, extremely poised," Howard said.

As of now, Sanders is widely projected to be a first round pick in April's draft, with potential to vault all the way up into the top five.
