DLN roundup: Immaculata women's soccer team defeats Albright

The Immaculata University women's soccer team (4-5-1) defeated Albright College, 2-1, Tuesday evening at Draper Walsh Stadium. Savanna Crowding scored her season-first goal and Marissa Birmingham tallied the first goal of her collegiate career.

Immaculata put pressure on Albright early in the contest as Rachel McNamee and Kelsey Caldarelli produced shots in the ninth minute. Caldarelli's try led to an Immaculata corner, one that led to a Crowding header that found the back of the net. Crowding was assisted by Sam Terry, who played the corner on the fly to the penalty marker.

Midway through the second half, the Mighty Macs connected on their second score. McNamee found Gabby Palladino near midfield, and Palladino played a through ball to the right corner for Birmingham, who tapped ahead before burying a 15-yarder at the far post.

Immaculata 0, Hood 0 >> Senior goalkeeper John Wilhelm made six saves in goal for the Mighty Macs (3-4-1) in Wednesday's non-conference game at Draper Walsh Stadium. Hood (3-4-1) finished with a 14-11 advantage in shots, and a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Immaculata 5, Lancaster Bible College 2 >> The Mighty Macs (1-1) earned their first win of the season Tuesday. Immaculata took two out of three doubles matches. The team of Pamela Kontaras and Delaney Brown took the first doubles match, 6-2. Hailey Elwell and Elizabeth Madsen earned their first doubles win taking the third doubles match, 6-3. In singles, Pamela Kontaras, Delaney Brown, Hailey Elwell, and Elizabeth Madsen each won their matches in straight sets. This was Madsen's first collegiate win in her first match.

Lancaster Bible College 6, Immaculata 1 >> In this Tuesday match, Patrick Arnold earned the Mighty Macs only point of the day, winning the second singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 for his first college win in his first match.

Ursinus 3, Immaculata 0 >> The Mighty Macs (2-8) fell to Ursinus College (7-4) in a non-conference match up at Ursinus Tuesday, losing by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-9. Mia Esposito led Immaculata with five kills, and one service ace. Christina Lenzo added 10 assists, and Dinah Stabinski added 10 digs for the Mighty Macs.

Kennett 1, West Chester Henderson 0 >> In this Tuesday matchup, Margo Schwarz scored the game's lone goal, assisted by Marissa Herring. Charlotte Mack had 11 saves in goal for Kennett (8-2-1 overall, 5-0 Ches-Mont), while Henderson goalie Grace Ronguas recorded five saves.

West Chester Rustin 8, Sun Valley 0 >> Ellie Kayser had a hat trick for the Golden Knights in this Tuesday victory. Other goals were scored by Emily Parkinson, Riley Smith, Emma Johnson, Grace O'Hora and Kylie Cebul.

Downingtown East 3, West Chester Rustin 1 >> For the Golden Knights, who posted scores of 22-25, 25-23, 10-25 and 21-25, the leaders were junior Ava Theiller (seven kills), sophomore Jadyn Johnson (35 digs) and junior Julianna Gotta (16 assists).

Bishop Shanahan 3, West Chester East 0 >> The Vikings, who posted scores of 15-25, 11-25 and 16-25, were led by Elizabeth Peterson (four kills), Sofia Keith (five kills, five blocks), Emma Foytack (12 digs) and Katie McPeak (13 assists).
