AI is revolutionizing data centers: The ramifications on networking requirements and innovation

As the artificial intelligence age sweeps through enterprise computing, businesses are left scrambling to adapt. With unprecedented growth in AI model sizes, data volume and computing infrastructure, the Seize the AI Moment event shows that the future of networking for AI-driven data centers is already here.

"We're seeing massive scale in AI models, in the data being used to train AI and in the computing infrastructure that makes it all possible," said Rami Rahim, chief executive officer of Juniper Networks Inc., during his keynote. "This means your AI data center infrastructure is growing at an unprecedented rate. Dell'Oro Group estimates that AI application traffic is growing by a factor of 10 and AI cluster size by four times every two years."

Alongside Rahim's keynote, theCUBE Research's John Furrier and Bob Laliberte spoke with Praveen Jain (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of AI clusters and cloud-ready data center at Juniper Networks, at the Seize the AI Moment event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media's livestreaming studio. They discussed the current wave of networking solutions and the future of AI-driven data centers. (* Disclosure below.)

With its AI-native networking solutions, Juniper Networks is enabling faster deployment and reduced site visits for clients such as Dartmouth College and The Gap. The company's data center fabric, Apstra and the industry-first 800-gigabyte e-switch are setting new benchmarks for performance and efficiency, according to Rahim.

"We understand the awesome potential of AI simply because we've been tapping into it for years and seeing great success as a result," he said. "But this event is about the stuff that makes AI possible to begin with, the infrastructure stack that makes it all a reality."

AI-native networking involves combining AI-driven operations with AI data center networking to improve operator and user experiences. For this concept to succeed, there must be a collaboration between solutions providers, ecosystem partners and customers to address challenges in deploying AI data centers, according to Jain.

"Today, we want to broaden that conversation, engaging with our ecosystem partners, industry leaders and customers to discuss the biggest challenges and opportunities organizations are facing with deploying their AI data centers," he said.
