5 takeaways as Raiders snap losing skid with win vs. Jaguars

The Las Vegas Raiders (3-12) snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 19-14 Sunday victory from Allegiant Stadium over the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-12).

For the first time since its 20-16 win over Cleveland on Sept. 29 in Week 4, the Raiders can celebrate in the winning NFL locker room.

Las Vegas built a 13-7 halftime lead behind a 1-yard Alexander Mattison touchdown run and a pair of Daniel Carlson field goals. Then, the Raiders rallied in the fourth quarter for their third victory of the 2024 season.

As Las Vegas reenters the win column, here's five takeaways from the win.

At last, at long last! Finally, the Raiders are back into the win column. After struggling through a 10-game losing streak, Las Vegas found the sweet nectar of victory over the Jaguars.

As the Raiders' misfortunes mounted, questions about Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce's future have grown. Could this win point Raiders owner Mark Davis in the direction of bringing Pierce back for the 2025 NFL season?

That's a question for another day. In the meantime, Raiders fans can celebrate a win again.

After consecutive quieter performances, Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers delivered a dominant performance like Las Vegas fans have become accustomed to. The Georgia alum reeled in 11 grabs for 99 yards.

Bowers was money down the stretch as he hauled in a handful of key grabs to extend drives and help carve the Raiders' path to victory.

Bowers also crossed off two more statistical milestones as he eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards and 100 catches on the season.

In the Raiders' go-ahead scoring drive, it looked like Las Vegas quarterback Aidan O'Connell was dead to rights with interior pressure on a pivotal 3rd-and-3 snap. Somehow, some way O'Connell wiggled free and connected with Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah for the conversion to keep the scoring drive alive.

O'Connell returned from the knee bone bruise that kept him sidelined last Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons. The Purdue product completed 24-of-38 passes for 257 yards in his return from injury.

Abdullah was huge for the Raiders on Sunday afternoon. The Nebraska Cornhusker finished his day with seven carries for 38 yards and five grabs for 47 yards.

Abdullah was the big catch recipient that kept the Raiders' go-ahead scoring drive alive before barreling into the end zone on a 7-yard touchdown run.

Tre'von Moehrig had a big day to help guide the Raiders to the win. Moehrig was one of two Raiders that recovered fumbles on back-to-back drives in the first half.

Then, with Jacksonville facing a 4th-and-11 trailing 19-14, Las Vegas cornerback Jack Jones held up Jaguars running back D'Ernest Johnson just enough for Moehrig to come in and complete the game-sealing tackle.
