1 arrested, 3 injured in 2 Saturday shootings in Danville

DANVILLE -- Danville police responded to two different incidents this past weekend that left individuals with gunshot wounds.

In the first case, Danville police responded to the 1000 block of Moore Street around midnight Saturday to find a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman in a yard who both received gunshot injuries from a shooting in the area.

The two subjects were transported to area hospitals for treatment; the man has since been released, while the woman remains in stable condition.

"Little is known at this point, and detectives are working to learn more," Danville police said of the midnight shooting.

In the second incident, Danville police responded to the OSF Sacred Heart emergency department in Danville around 3 a.m. Saturday for a report of a gunshot victim.

There, officers learned that the victim was a juvenile with non-life-threatening injuries who was delivered to the hospital by their mother. The juvenile was released the same day.

After further investigation, detectives arrested the juvenile's mother, Morgan Nelson, 34, of Danville on preliminary charges of unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the life and health of a child.

Anyone with information regarding the injured juvenile is asked to contact authorities.
