ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Police Department reports responding to a shooting Monday evening.

Officers report responding to a report of a gunshot wound at 5:44 p.m. on Monday at a residence near Allen Avenue.

A man suffering from a gunshot wound was taken to Mission Hospital where he died from his injuries, officers said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The Asheville Police Department is investigating the shooting.
