Shirley Jean (Davis) Moore

Shirley Jean (Davis) Moore

Shirley Jean (Davis) Moore, age 81, peacefully departed this life and entered her heavenly home on Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Tuesday, August 17, 1943, in San Jose, California, the daughter of Clarence and Elma (Simmons) Davis. Early in her life, Shirley, along with her family moved to Schell City where she attended school, graduating with the Schell City High School Class of 1961.

On Thursday, January 18, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to Jerry Dean Moore at the home of Jerry's sister and her husband, Betty and Kenneth Holt in Appleton City, Missouri. Jerry, serving in the United States Army, was stationed in Chicago, Illinois and abroad in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Upon completion of his military commitment, and as a small family with a son - Jerry Dwayne who was born in 1963 - the family moved to Independence, Missouri where their daughter Christene Renae was born in 1965. Just two years later in 1967 the family decided to move back to their hometown area of Harwood/Schell City. Shortly after moving back to Missouri Shirley began employment at the International Shoe Company in El Dorado Springs. Later she worked at the Walker School, the Nevada City Hospital, the Bank of Harwood, Tri-County State Bank - and lastly at Star Graphics.

Some of Shirley's most cherished days were those spent with her family and friends at the lake at her home while fishing, swimming and cooking-out for everyone. She always enjoyed good music with Elvis being at the top of the list - as well as old-time rock-n-roll, dancing, Bingo, Yahtzee and a good game of cards. One knew a good time was to be had if you happened to be in the neighborhood. Shirley was also an avid gardener who loved to share the fruits of her labor. Many family members, neighbors and friends would enjoy time preparing and canning vegetables, salsas, jams and jellies in her kitchen which was shared with all.

Shirley's loving nature was something that was recognized by everyone who came in contact with her -- the beautiful smile, the infectious laughter and "oh - those mischievous eyes" that always made one want to spend time right beside her wondering what was going to happen next to not miss out on the surprise. Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to so many - she will be so missed.

Survivors include her son Jerry Dwayne of Bolivar; her daughter, Christene Renae Moore of Harwood; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Robinson of North Carolina and Kaye Reasoner and husband Daurell of Harwood; sisters-in-law Fran Davis of Halston, Texas and Linda Moore of Schell City; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers - Ray and Dennis; sister - Lena; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Kenneth Holt; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Pauline and Cecil Losey -- and most recently her beloved husband Jerry Dean Moore who passed away October 3, 2018.

Each member of this family is so very thankful for the honor to have been loved and to share in the fun-loving, selfless life of Shirley --- we have all been blessed through her journey of this life.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Shirley's family would like to invite friends and neighbors to a luncheon at the Schell City Community Building immediately following the Graveside Service.
