Is It Possible to Heal Yourself Without Medical Help?

Is It Possible to Heal Yourself Without Medical Help?

Yes, it is possible to heal yourself. Yet, if you ask someone if they believe they can heal themselves from disease or pain and suffering, most people will say "No way!" Is it any wonder that most don't believe it's possible? TV ads scare us into believing that we need one or more drugs to heal us. Just look at the number of pharmaceutical commercials we now see on TV.

An article written by Dr. Chuck Dinerstein, MD, MBA on Jan 16, 2023, stated: "In 2016, the American viewing public was exposed to 663,000 television commercials for pharmaceuticals. That is a significant "ad spend" by Pharma, which we pay for through increased drug pricing."

TV and internet commercials are filled with fearful examples of the huge number of diseases and sickness that one can be subjected to. Even though I believe in Divine Healing, listening to those commercials even makes me fearful until I remember WHO I AM.

I just stop and remind myself that I am a Child of God. This means that God has given me the power to heal myself and I don't need to give into fear.

Mary Baker Eddy founded the Church of Christ Scientist in 1879. Her many years of extensive research of the Bible led her to believe that we are all spiritual beings, a reflection of God. Therefore, a belief in sickness or pain and suffering is not possible.

Her Scientific Statement of Being says: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestations, for God is All-in-All. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material, he is spiritual."

The church's monthly publications are filled with stories of people who healed themselves. I love reading those stories!

I met a young man in my office building who had a slight limp as he walked. I used to joke with him, exclaiming "I'll race you to the elevator!" This wasn't being cruel; it was acknowledging what a remarkable person he was!

He had shared with me that when he was 16, he and his buddies went to a local swimming hole to swim and play water polo. On one occasion, he happened to dive into the shallow end of the lake and was injured.

Next thing he remembers is waking up in the hospital with a broken neck, paralyzed from his neck down. And the doctors informed him that his paralysis was permanent. His spine was beyond repair; there was nothing they could do for him. They informed him that he needed to learn how to live with this permanent disability.

Yet his mother, a devout Christian, believed that he could heal himself, and asked him what he was going to do about his situation. He replied, "There's nothing I can do, Mom! You heard what the doctors said!"

But she refused to believe his diagnosis. She said, "Well, since you are going to be immobilized in that bed, why not use that fantastic brain God gave you? Close you eyes and see yourself as completely healed and whole again. See yourself playing ball with your buddies, dancing with your girlfriend, driving that sports car you love...what else do you have to do all day? Why not give it a try?"

He sheepishly admitted to me that he spent the first six months feeling sorry for himself, and wallowing in self-pity and he said he "just got bored." And so, he began to close his eyes and visualize himself completely healed.

It took him a year, but he was able to completely heal himself from his paralysis. The only reminder of his injury was that slight limp that he joked about. He said it was God's way of reminding him just how much power he really had to heal himself. And he knew that slight limp would also be healed.

Once when I was teaching one of my mortgage finance courses, I tried to pull the marble podium I was using a little closer to me. It weighed a ton, and my attempts to move it to me only resulted in its tipping over onto my feet!

That marble podium came crashing down on my shins just below the knees and ended up on top of my feet! I stood there in shock, unable to move, and fortunately two big strapping men jumped up and moved it off my feet.

I pulled up my pants legs and looked in horror at two big wounds, with blood running down both of my legs. The students in the class screamed and yelled, "Get her to the emergency room right away!" And the two men were ready to carry me right to the hospital when I silently exclaimed, "NO! I WILL NOT accept this! I turn this over to Jesus, Who sees me as whole and well!"

I said to the two men who were carrying me, "It's OK. I'm going to be just fine. Just let me run down to my office and put some hydrogen peroxide on these wounds." So, I rushed to my office and grabbed the hydrogen peroxide bottle and a cotton ball. When I raised my pant legs and saw the damage that was done, I almost lost it. One of the wounds was exposing the bone!

But I took a deep breath and put the cotton balls soaked in hydrogen peroxide on the two wounds, cleaned them and put Band Aids on both wounds. And then I went back to class, assured the students I was OK, and taught the class for the rest of the day.

When class ended, several students came up to me, asking how I was doing. I didn't know what they were talking about until they reminded me of the injury I sustained earlier in the class. So, I pulled up my pants legs and removed the two Band Aids - AND LOOKED AT TWO WOUNDS THAT WERE COMPLETELY HEALED, EXCEPT FOR TWO RED SPOTS!

The students couldn't believe what they were seeing! I said, "Thank You, dear God, for my perfect healing! Don't you love it?" And the students assured me that they did, indeed, love it!

Since that incident, I have had several occasions to heal myself when I had other accidents. I just choose to accept that God has given all of us the power to heal.

I know many of you will be thinking that the prudent thing would have been for me to go to the hospital. Yet going to the hospital would have meant that my mind was FOCUSED ON MY INJURY. Our thoughts create our reality, which meant that my injury would probably end up being debilitating.

I chose to FOCUS ON MY HEALING, knowing that God has always taken care of me. I'm not averse to using medicine for illness. Ten years ago, I chose natural treatment for my cancer diagnosis. And I had triple bypass 4 years ago when Mother Mary appeared to me and told me to go to the doctor!

I trust that God will always guide and direct me in these situations. And I have faith that all will work out to my highest and best interest. We are so loved!
