FRANKLIN, Mass. (WLNE) -- The Franklin Fire Department is investigating a blaze that damaged St. Mary's Catholic Church Wednesday as arson, according to Franklin fire officials.
Franklin fire and police personnel responded to the fire at 5:45 p.m. after a fire alarm activation and 911 call.
The fire was quickly knocked down and extensive ventilation was required due to the heavy smoke.
Based on investigation, witness interviews and other evidence, officials believe that the fire was intentionally set.
