WORK to fix a splashpad will begin during the winter with plans for it to be completed before summer 2025.
There was disappointment on some of the hottest days this year when Gheluvelt Park's splashpad was closed because of maintenance issues.
It was out of action for two weeks during the summer due to constant maintenance problems with the filtration system which was installed when the it first opened in 2010.
Over the winter, the filtration system will be replaced with a new one while a new safety surface will also be installed.
Councillor Lynn Denham, leader of the council, said: "The splashpad has been hugely popular since it was introduced to the city 14 years ago.
"Having a free water play facility for children to enjoy throughout the summer months is vitally important for Worcester.
"Visitors will not see any external change in the Splashpad when it reopens next year, but the new filtration system will increase the resilience of the facility."

In July, David Blake, managing director of the council, said the Splashpad's closure on one of the hottest days of the year was "embarrassing" with the council deciding whether the facility had reached the end of its working life.
When the council decided not to reopen the Splashpad in 2024 after its breakdown over August bank holiday, many people thought this year would be the last time it would be in use.
However, the city's councillors decided to approve the funding after council officers designed a plan and budgeted the costs for the repairs.
Cllr Denham added: "The cross-party support for the splashpad repairs proves its popularity and the need to spend this money to keep it open for families to enjoy for many more years to come.
"This is part of our continuing investment in play for children in Worcester."
Work on the splashpad will begin in February 2025 with the council hoping to have the facility open on Friday, May 23.
