Chhaava will become 2025's first Bollywood film to cross Rs 200 crore mark
Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is currently over the moon as the audience is showering him with love and appreciation for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Laxman Utekar directorial Chhaava. While it was a given that the movie will do a good business at the box office, its exceptional success has surprised one and all. After collecting Rs 116.50 crore during its first weekend and giving Vicky his first biggest weekend opener, the film continues to inch closer to the Rs 200 crore mark.

While the movie earned Rs 24 crore on Monday, it saw a hike in its collection on Tuesday by earning Rs 25.25 crore. However, Chhaava's earnings on Wednesday took the box office collection of the film to a new height. On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, a partial holiday in Maharashtra, the movie collection saw a huge jump. Quoting a Sacnilk report, the Free Press Journal reported that the Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna starrer collected approximately Rs 32 crores, which takes the total to Rs 197.75 crore.

It is expected that the film's collection might see a drop today as it is a working day, however, one can expect the film to make Rs 20 crore plus collection. It will surely cross the Rs 200 crore mark in its first week of release. Making it Bollywood's first film to cross the mark. For those who don't know, Chhaava was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 130 crores, having earned more than that, the film is already declared as a super hit.

The media publication goes on to report that Chhaava has already surpassed the lifetime collection of Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Bajirao Mastani, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra. It will be interesting to see if it manages to beat the lifetime collections of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Rs. 279.60 crore) and Padmaavat (Rs. 302.15 crore).

Adapted from Shivaji Sawant's Marathi novel of the same name, Chhaava sees Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsle and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Shahenshah Aurangzeb. The Laxman Utekar directorial also co-stars Diana Penty, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, and Vineet Kumar Singh among others in pivotal roles. The film was released on February 14, 2025.
