St. Luke's launches hospital at home: 4 notes

1. St. Luke's is the first Idaho health system to offer acute hospital care at home, where patients get inpatient-level care in their homes with the help of technology and twice-daily visits from a paramedic, according to the Feb. 15 story.

2. St. Luke's started the program in November after being granted a CMS waiver for the care model in September.

3. The program became the second fastest to reach 100 patients, the newspaper reported.

4. "The intensity of care is in line with what you'd expect within a brick-and-mortar hospital," program medical director Adam Balinger, MD, told the news outlet. "Being able to be at home with your pets and with your families just creates an environment where it's easier to rest and heal."
