Ricochet is already doing much better in AEW than WWE

Dynamite airs tonight (Sept. 18) with a live show from Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. This is the second episode of Dynamite during the five week build towards WrestleDream, which takes place on October 12.

Ricochet is AEW's hot new star. He's quickly building momentum in the promotion with recent wins against Sammy Guevara and Kyle Fletcher, and he's looking to make it three in a row tonight on Dynamite when he faces The Beast Mortos. Ricochet was attacked by Mortos after last week's win over Sammy, so he should be extra motivated to kick this guy's ass.

It's already clear from just a few weeks in that Ricochet is being presented as a special talent in AEW. He won't be losing to any YouTube douchebags or dumped into matches with five minute time limits here. With that type of appalling booking out the window, Ricochet is kind of a big deal again, and it looks like he's on a collision course with AEW International Champion Will Ospreay.

Ricochet and Ospreay's incredible match against each other in Japan at Best of the Super Juniors in 2016 was the talk of the wrestling world at the time, and AEW could be revisiting it right away at this year's WrestleDream pay-per-view. Ospreay is booked like the number one babyface star in the company, so this match might be exactly what Ricochet needs to approach that kind of level in AEW.

Will Ricochet call out Ospreay for a title match at WrestleDream after he defeats The Beast Mortos tonight? You'll have to tune into Dynamite to find out.

If you want to see great wrestling matches, then make sure you don't miss tonight's trios match pitting Kazuchika Okada and the Young Bucks against Ospreay, Fletcher, and Konosuke Takeshita. Ospreay and Fletcher are coming after the EVPs' AEW world tag team titles at Grand Slam, while Takeshita is targeting Okada's AEW Continental championship. But can Takeshita get along with Ospreay tonight when they must work together to beat The Elite?

Serena Deeb teams up with AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May tonight to take on the duo of Queen Aminata and Yuka Sakazaki. Aminata is looking for revenge on Deeb after The Professor ambushed her from behind on Collision and tried to injure her knee. Meanwhile, Yuka practically kicked May's head off on that same show and is trying to build momentum towards a title match against her, perhaps at WrestleDream.

Finally, Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho is happening tonight on Dynamite. These guys are revisiting their feud from 2020 that culminated in Chris being dumped into a vat of mimosa. Chris demanded $7,000 from Orange for ruining his suit from back then, so Orange dropped a whole bunch of coins onto Jericho's fancy car. Is it inevitable that this match will break down into a brawl between The Conglomeration and The Learning Tree?

- Nigel McGuinness has challenged AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson to a non-title match next week at Grand Slam, but nobody seems to know what shape Bryan is in after Jon Moxley suffocated him with a plastic bag at All Out. Will Danielson make an appearance tonight to confirm his status for the match with Nigel, or will we have to wait until Grand Slam to see if The American Dragon shows up to wrestle?

- Moxley finally had a conversation with Darby Allin last week, and now they'll fight at Grand Slam over Darby's guaranteed world title shot. If Jon and his crew decide to attack anyone else tonight, will Darby make the save and get violent with Mox?

- Swerve Strickland is out of action, so Hangman Page is now focused on beating the shit out of anyone who tried to stop him from getting revenge on the former AEW world champ. That put Jeff Jarrett in his crosshairs last week, so it looks like they'll probably have a match soon to resolve this conflict.

- Who will TBS Champion Mercedes Mone beat next after successfully defending her belt against Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida over the last month?

- Grizzled Young Veterans talked a big game but ultimately lost against FTR on Collision, and were then run off by Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum. Have you bought any of The Outrunners' merchandise yet?

- FTW Champion HOOK is stepping in the ring with Roderick Strong at Grand Slam in Queens, New York. HOOK will be the local hero in that match next week, so maybe The Undisputed Kingdom will get the jump on him tonight.

- Will Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta have to vacate the AEW world trios championship if Yuta cannot bring himself to team with Claudio and PAC after what they did to Bryan Danielson at All Out?

- Action Andretti is frustrated with the losses that are piling up for Top Flight. Is it time for Action to ditch the corny ring gear and take off on his own?

- The Righteous want a piece of the House of Black, which probably won't end well for Vincent and Dutch considering they rarely ever win on AEW television.
