"A Beautiful Noise," the Neil Diamond Musical, opens the Broadway season at The Bushnell, Oct. 1-6. Using the Neil Diamond songbook, the musical tells Diamond's story, with "American Idol" winner Nick Fradiani playing young Neil, and Robert Westenberg (from the original cast of "Into the Woods") playing Neil today. Anthony McCarten wrote the book, and Michael Mayer directs. Among the songs: "Song Sung Blue," "Sweet Caroline," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and "America." For details: www.bushnell.org.

"Fever Dreams (of Animals on the Verge of Extinction)," the explosive new thriller from Jeffrey Lieber (best known for the TV series "Lost"), opens TheaterWorks Hartford's season, Oct. 3 to Nov. 3. Rob Ruggiero directs. For decades, Adele and Zachary have rendezvoused in a remote cabin in the woods to celebrate their passion and be together. This year, though, something is ... different. The place is falling apart, a sense of loss pervades the air, they're both keeping secrets, and Adele has brought a gun. The cast of "Fever Dreams (of Animals on the Verge of Extinction)" includes Tim DeKay, Doug Savant and Lana Young, all of whom are making their TheaterWorks Hartford debuts.
